You might want to join me at the PEC Annual Meeting. We'll examine our role as stewards of the rich natural, cultural, & historic Piedmont landscape. Attend workshops focusing on stewardship & the greatest issues facing the Piedmont. Listen as Keynote Speaker Dr. William Cronon explores the way in which humans have interacted with the natural world over time. Hosted at a 448-acre protected farm in Fauquier. Salem Farm was slated for 226 new houses until PEC member (& President of the Piedmont Foundation) William H. Backer stepped in. In 2003, Mr. Backer placed the farm in a conservation easement. The site includes an 18th century farmhouse.
