Thinking Globally, Acting Locally: The Piedmont Perspective Lester R. Brown, President of the Earth Policy Institute, will be the keynote speaker for PEC’s Annual Meeting on September 13th. Described by the Washington Post as "one of the world's most influential thinkers," Brown will provide a global perspective to the work being done in communities of the Piedmont. This year's meeting will feature workshops highlighting local initiatives that apply global sustainability concepts such as energy, local farming, and land conservation.
The 2008 Annual Meeting will take place at Caledonia Farm in Flint Hill, Virginia. Tickets are $25 per person and every household will receive a complimentary copy of Lester Brown’s book. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase food from local vendors, On the Fly and Red Truck Bakery.
